In a critical moment for Julian Alvarez, Atletico Madrid exudes confidence about keeping their star forward despite interest from Barcelona. Multiple clubs have reached out to him, yet Atletico’s president, Enrique Cerezo, remains calm, asserting that the Argentine international is keen to stay in the capital for the long haul.
“Julian has a contract to fulfill, just like everyone else. He is a player we want, and he intends to commit to the club for another five or six years. We will not entertain negotiations with any other clubs regarding him,” stated Cerezo, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

This season, Alvarez has shone brightly, netting 10 goals in 17 appearances across all competitions. Such performances have made him a coveted target. Cerezo added, “If a club comes knocking and the player desires to leave, we would consider the offer. However, at this moment, no one wants to depart from Atletico.”
Earlier reports indicated that Barcelona views Alvarez as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who is set to leave Camp Nou after the 2025/26 season when his contract expires. The La Liga champions are reportedly ready to invest over 100 million euros for the former Manchester City star. Yet, Atletico Madrid has taken a firm stance, declaring they will not let another key asset slip into the hands of a direct competitor.
As the tension mounts, the future of Julian Alvarez hangs in the balance, and fans are left wondering whether loyalty or ambition will prevail.
